About Danica's Photography

So, who is Danica and what is this place?

You have stumbled across my photoblog. This photoblog contains a type of portfolio, if you will. I decided on this because it is much easier to keep up with consistently than a full-fledged website.

I starting goofing around with photography back in 2000 when I received a (now ancient) digital camera for christmas. Being able to see what I had taken and see through the LCD lens at the exact photo I was taking was helpful in learning how to angle and produce different images other than just snapshots. At that time, and still now, it is more about having an "eye" for it and not so much the technical side of photography. It's not always about what you shoot with either, because I get some great shots from my little elph. Personally, I think it's more about how you approach your subject and how you feel about what you are photographing.

What I love about photography is capturing something special. I like a wide range of tastes: crisp and clean scenic shots, gritty and grainy night photos, objects and people in motion, the facial expressions and emotions that evoke something in the viewer. I'm not about the rules of photography. I enjoy what I do and the people that I photograph.

So far, I've had experience in concert photography, scenic and nature, animals, children and family photos, and most recently a wedding. My normal 8-5/M-F job is as a Human Resources Administrator at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. I love my job because it enables me to interact with people that have different backgrounds and experiences.
